CBD Makes Large Impact in the Pet Industry

We search to find the perfect food, the best treat, the most fun toy for our furry four-legged friends to ensure they are living their best life. When it comes to their health, we also make the decisions that benefit them the most; vet appointments, teeth cleanings, long walks, hours of play, but is it enough? Some of our pets just need a bit more. That is where CBD has made a large impact in the pet industry.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiols (CBD) are one of the 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants but unlike THC they are non-psychoactive. CBD is safe for humans and pets as it is 100% natural substance sourced mainly from hemp which has less than 0.3% THC, which is the legal limit that does not cause a psychoactive response. CBD works through the endocannabinoid system (ECS), the same way ibuprofen works on the body, to control different bodily functions and immune responses. Through many studies and ongoing research, for both humans and animals, the use of CBD has been proven beneficial as an anti-inflammatory, pain manager, stress reliever, and promotes homeostasis.

How Does CBD Work?

Within the body there are two receptors in the ECS, CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are found in abundance throughout the brain on neurons, while CB2 receptors are found within the immune system. When CBD binds to both types of receptors is activates a two-way communication that connects both the brain and the body to elicit beneficial responses that can improve the quality of your pet’s life. Through supplementation of CBD, as well as a healthy diet and activity level, pets have been seen to have improvements in anti-inflammatory response, stress-based anxiety and aggression, decreased nausea, increased appetite, and more. When looking at using CBD supplements it is always important to consult a veterinarian with questions.

At the Spur Line we stand behind the products we provide to our customers and two of our CBD products are the Pet Releaf Edibit treats and Zilis UltraCell oils. Both products are full spectrum supplements that are certified by the US Hemp Authority and USDA Organic.
